Text: 1Corinthians 11:25-30
When Jesus instituted the Communion with His disciples, He said, “Do this as often as you do it, in remembrance of Me.” There is no limitation on how often we can take Communion. In fact, it is implies often. The only admonition is that we take it in remembrance and reverence. (If taken irreverently, it produces damnation and death.) On the other hand, if taking it irreverently can bring these, how much more will taking it with reverence and in faith bring health and life!
See with your spiritual mind that you are eating healing and drinking life. When you are sick, you need to take it more often, even daily in critical illness. Just as you take prescribed natural medicines, take the healing medicine that is in God’s Word and the Lord’s table in the Body and Blood of Jesus. You should read the verses that are noted beforehand, so that when you pray them, they will be alive in your spirit.
Proverbs 4:20-22 exhorts us to “Give attention to, hear with our ears, keep before our eyes and in our hearts, God’s Word, because it is “health to all our flesh.” The Hebrew word for health literally means medicine.
My Cancer Journey
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. It was caught early, was contained, and very small in size, but it was an aggressive form of breast cancer. After much prayer and consultation with both medical and spiritual leaders, I decided to have outpatient surgery and radiation. My surgeon was a praying Christian, and he was very compassionate toward me. My oncologist was pressing me to have chemotherapy, but my surgeon told me to follow my heart because he knew I was a woman of faith. After a glorious dream from the Lord, I decided against chemo, but had radiation treatments five times a week for 4 weeks.
Every morning before we left for the hospital, I took communion. In my spirit, soul, and body, I was taking communion in lieu of chemo and for protection against any harmful effects of radiation. I saw communion as a divine transfusion of the life of the flesh that’s in the blood that Jesus shed at the whipping post and on the cross. I had no side effects from the radiation, and it was stopped early.
Please understand that I am not telling anyone what they should do if they are diagnosed with cancer. Every case is different medically, and every person is not in the same place spiritually with their faith and understanding of the Word of God.
Nevertheless, I highly recommend taking Communion, the Meal that Heals, often and even daily when battling cancer or in a serious health challenge. They should go before the Lord and receive the direction that He would give for them medically. Taking communion is certainly something He will honor when we take it in faith in the blood of His Holy Son Jesus and what He accomplished for us at the post and on the cross.
When I took communion for healing for my body, I prayed along these lines:
“Lord, on the night You were betrayed, You took the bread and blessed it and said, ‘Take eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.”
Bless the bread. Jesus would have said: “Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the universe who brings forth bread from the earth.” Then I say:
“Lord, I remember ‘You were wounded for my transgressions, You were bruised for my iniquities, You were chastised for my peace, and by Your stripes I am healed’ (Isaiah 53:3-5).
“I remember: ‘You bore in Your own body my sins to the tree, so that I being dead to sin, might live unto righteousness, and by Your stripes I was healed’ (1Peter 2:24).
“They made long the furrows in Your back” (Ps.129:3), and every one of those 39 stripes was for the healing of my body: ‘Surely You have borne my griefs and carried my sorrows’—You have borne my sickness and carried my pain (Isa.53:4).
“I remember: You are the Bread of Heaven and You told a Gentile woman: ‘Healing is the children’s bread’ (Matt.15:26). I am a child of God, and I receive my healing bread now. You taught me to pray, ‘Give me this day our daily bread’ (Matt.6:11)—Father, give me this day my healing bread. I receive the life that’s in Your Body into my mortal body (John 6:33), in Jesus’ Name.”
Eat the bread—cracker.
“Lord, then you took the cup and blessed it and said, ‘This is the cup of the New Testament in my blood. Drink this in remembrance of me.’”
Bless the juice. Jesus would have said, “Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who creates the fruit of the vine.”
Then I say:
“Lord, I remember: ‘The life of the flesh is in the blood’ (Lev.17:11), and You gave Your pure, sinless, sickless blood to ‘redeem my life from destruction’ (Ps.103:4), to ‘redeem me from the curse of the law’ (Gal.3:13); this includes sickness and disease; to ‘translate me out of the kingdom and authority of darkness and Satan’ (Col.1:13), into Your kingdom where I have ‘righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost’ (Rom.14:17), and that peace is shalom—so that I have nothing missing or broken, spirit, soul, and body (1Thes.5:23).
“The same resurrection power that raised You from the dead is dwelling in and making alive my mortal body” (Rom.8:11), and ‘every plant the Father has not planted must be rooted up’ (Matt.15:13) [including bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, cancer cells, and anything that is not compatible with the life that is in You].
“This blood stands between me and the adversary: He cannot trespass it, and I’m not coming out from under its protection and healing power. ‘I overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony’ (Rev.12:11). Therefore, I am healed by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony: By Your stripes I am healed, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Partake of the juice.
This is a guide, but the Holy Spirit may lead you to quote verses that He quickens to you. Just follow Him. Above all, believe that His resurrection life is active in your mortal body.
You are coming out, in Jesus’ Name! He did it for me, and He is no respecter of persons!
