Don’t Remove Ancient Landmarks!

“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3). I have used this text as the launching point for several sermons. It goes right to the heart of what American Christians face in the present godless, anti-religious, especially anti-Christian, climate. It has motivated me to preach boldly the unimpeachable principles of the Bible that I was raised on; that have been the foundation of our nation, the most blessed and prosperous in history. But they are now being removed with increasing rapidity—What will I do? What will you do? What will we do?  Continue reading Don’t Remove Ancient Landmarks!

Allah & Jehovah—the Same God?

In recent years we have seen the rise of Chrislam—the melding of Christianity and Islam. This synchretism has reached the stage where pastors are opening up their churches to allow Muslims to join them in worship to pray to the Islamic god Allah, whom they say is the same God of the Bible. Not only is this heresy, but it is blasphemy to both Jehovah, the God of the Bible, as well as to all Muslims.  Continue reading Allah & Jehovah—the Same God?

Raising the Bar

Based on what is coming across many pulpits today, it would seem that sin is not what it used to be. Under the banner of grace, the moral code of the Bible is being relaxed, allowing for active sin to go unchallenged in the Church. A favorite of grace libertines is the mantra that we are no longer under Old Testament Law, as though its moral code was rescinded. They often cite Jesus’ words of love and forgiveness, inferring He would not condemn their sin today. Their reasoning seems to be that He loves us too much to condemn us.  Continue reading Raising the Bar

It Said They Killed God!

The Passover lamb had to be perfect, without disease, a one-year old male, in its prime. It was to be taken out of the flocks four days before Passover and kept close to the family. The lamb had to be presented by the priests for sacrifice, and inspected to make sure it was acceptable. Paul said, “Christ our Passover lamb is sacrificed for us” (1Cor.5:7). He was age 33, a male in His prime of life, and He was sinless: “He had done no violence; neither was there any deceit in his mouth” (Isaiah 53:9). “Who did no sin; neither was guile found in his mouth” (1Peter 2:22). PURIM—The Amalekites Among Us

This month, March 11-12 marks the most joyous holiday on the Jewish calendar—Purim—the festival celebrating the Jews’ victory over Haman. This evil anti-Semite had succeeded in convincing the King of Persia to sign an edict to kill all Jews throughout the 127 provinces of his kingdom. But one thing he did not count on—the new queen of the land—Esther, was actually a Jewess named Hadassah. God used her to turn the tables on Haman! Continue reading PURIM—The Amalekites Among Us
